Who we are
Shepherds Lodge is run by Joanne and Robin Bainbridge from Cockfield Hall Farm, Bishop Auckland, County Durham, DL13 5AD. This policy explains what personal information we collect through shepherdslodge.co.uk, why, and what you can do about it.
Information we collect
When you book a stay (via the /book/ page)
We collect your name, email address, phone number, and payment details. Payment is processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your card details ourselves.
When you use the contact form
We collect your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), and the content of your message.
When you book through Airbnb
If you book through our Airbnb listing rather than directly, Airbnb collects and holds your information under its own privacy policy, not this one. We only see the details Airbnb shares with us to fulfil your booking.
When you browse the website
We use Pirsch, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to see how many people visit the site and which pages they look at. Pirsch does not use cookies and does not collect information that identifies you personally.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Confirm and manage your booking
- Contact you about your stay, such as arrival details and directions
- Reply to your enquiry if you’ve used the contact form
- Meet our legal and accounting obligations
- Understand, in general terms, how people use our website
Our legal basis for using it
We use your information because it’s necessary to fulfil a booking you’ve made with us (a contract), to respond to an enquiry you’ve sent us, or to meet our legal obligations, such as keeping accounting records.
Who we share it with
We share your information with:
- Stripe, to take payment for your booking
- Airbnb, if you’ve booked through Airbnb rather than directly
- HMRC or our accountant, where required for tax and accounting
We do not sell or share your information with anyone else.
How long we keep it
We keep booking and payment records for as long as we’re required to for accounting purposes, then delete them. Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.
Your rights
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To do this, contact Joanne directly using the details on our Contact page.
Cookies
This site does not run a blog or accept comments, so most of the standard WordPress cookie behaviour around comments does not apply. If you log in to the site as an administrator, WordPress sets standard login cookies. Our booking system (WP Booking System) does not set its own cookies.
Children
This service is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
